One fight that has fight fans across Europe seriously excited for April 27th is Mason Jones vs Donovan Desmae – a Wales vs Belgium clash between two top rising lightweights. Here, we take a look at their best performances from the last couple of years.

Mason Jones’ Cage Warriors debut came at CW87 in 2o17, when he displayed a grit and resilience beyond his years by submitting Shaun Luther with just 10 seconds left in the fight.

Jones was in clear control throughout the fight, and wore Luther down until he recognised an opening for the submission. Fans witnessed a similar strategy in Jones’ fight on the Cage Warriors Academy Wales in May last year, when he also won via rear-naked choke in the final seconds of the last round.

While Jones was making his debut that year, Donovan Desmae was about to walk out for his 14th professional fight – a stark reminder of his superior experience heading into CW104. In that fight, he ground his way to a dominant decision win over Aiden Lee, crushing his 3-fight win streak.

A year later in 2018, Mason Jones began the rise that launched his name into the spotlight. First was CW91, when he demolished Lawrence Tracey with an explosive TKO that still stands as one of the best on his highlight reel.

At that same event, Donovan Desmae shocked the Welsh crowd with a first-round knockout over Richard Williams which positioned him as one of the most dangerous finishers in the division.

Little did Jones and Desmae know that their two massive finishes on that night would lead them to a fight with each other almost exactly a year later. Later in 2018, Desmae staged one of the craziest one-round wars in Cage Warriors history with Hubert Geven at CW94.

Although the fight was stopped between rounds due to a serious cut above Desmae’s eye, the Belgian’s performance earned him true warrior status and proved he’s one of the toughest guys in the division to put away.

To close the year, Mason Jones walked out to a packed-out Welsh crowd at CW97 and finished Kacper Formela in the first round.

The finish later went on to win Cage Warriors’ 2018 TKO of the Year – a well-earned trophy for Jones’ incredible performance over a dangerous opponent who caught the Welshman with some strong shots in the opening moments of the fight.

Now, it’s time for these warriors to meet in the biggest fights of their careers so far!
