To add to a huge card topped by Jack Shore vs Scott Malone for the bantamweight world title, Cage Warriors have confirmed a number of other top Welsh names in 4 new fights for April 27th.

In the lightweight division, Welsh prospect Mason ‘The Dragon’ Jones faces Belgium’s Donovan Desmae. Jones is still unbeaten at 6-0 and secured the most impressive win of his career at CW97 late last year, when he finished Kacper Formela in the opening round to the roar of the Welsh crowd. His CW97 win capped off a massive 2o18, in which he picked up 4 wins with 3 of those coming within the distance.

Standing across the cage from Jones is the much more experienced Desmae, whose record stands at 12-5. Desmae’s knockout power dispatched Welshman Richard Williams at CW91, and after his previously matched fight with former champion Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett fell through he’s raring to get back under Cage Warriors lights.

Elsewhere on the card, Aaron Khalid and Tom ‘Kong Watson will meet in a classic prospect vs veteran matchup in the welterweight division. Khalid’s impressive 9 wins have come over some of the divisions toughest competitors such as Håkon Foss, Adam Proctor and Jamie Richardson, and he now rides a 3-fight win streak.

Watson, a new signing to the Cage Warriors roster but a true veteran of the sport, has picked up multiple UK titles and secured both knockout and fight of the night honours during his UFC run, fighting on some of the promotion’s biggest cards alongside icons such as Anderson Silva and Jose Aldo. This will be the first time Watson has moved to welterweight after carving his MMA career at middleweight.

Also just announced is a women’s strawweight bout between Cory McKenna and Fannie Redman.

Cory McKenna’s one-round domination of a much older and more seasoned opponent at CW91 spurred the UFC’s Urijah Faber, Cody Garbrandt and Andre Fili (who McKenna trained under leading up the fight) to proclaim her as the next big thing as they watched from the USA. She followed that performance with a hard-fought win over a second experienced opponent at CW94 in Belgium.

Meeting McKenna on April 27th is Fannie Redman, an exciting up-and-comer from Stockholm, Sweden who opened her pro career with a very impressive armbar submission over Tiia Kohtamaki in December. Redman also has victories at the both the IMMAF European finals and Swedish MMA Championships under her belt.

Welsh fan favourite Kris Edwards, who trains out of Tillery Combat with Cage Warriors champion Jack Shore and UFC middleweight Jack Marshman, will also feature on the card as he takes on Josh Abraham.
